New music: Sufjan Stevens & Andrew Bird

Anyone looking for new music? I have some to recommend:

(1) Sufjan Stevens – Illinois

This guy’s voice is amazing. The instrumentation is awesome as well. It can seem kind of hokey at times, but if you are cool with that, then you’ll likely enjoy it. It took me a bit to get used to the different style, but once I did I was glad. It’s basically folk with lots of instrumentation. Oh, and he has the coolest names for his songs. Here’s his site: www.sufjan.com

(2) Andrew Bird – Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs

Bird has a neat voice as well and his album is pretty unique. What’s cool about Bird too is that he pretty much does all the stuff on the album himself and when he plays live he does it all, except for the drums, by picking up different instruments and looping them. It’s amazing! You can download of video of such on his website: www.andrewbird.net

I dig both of these albums. They’re not quite as raw and indie as some of the stuff I’ve been listening to lately (e.g., Wolf Parade). It’s a nice change to listen to some real clean emo-ish stuff.

So, if you’re looking for some new music, I recommend these two.
