It’s already almost a month into 2010, but I usually like to take a moment to list my top 10 or so favorite albums from the previous year. To limit the toil it takes on my mind, I’ll just throw out my favorite 10 without worrying too much about the order. So here they are [...]

Flaming Lips – Embryonic
I’m really getting into the new album by The Flaming Lips: Embryonic. Here’s a nice HD vid of one of the songs done live:

I think Pitchfork is wise in giving it a 9.0.
New Radiohead Song
Radiohead have posted a new song they just completed! It’s called “These Are My Twisted Words” and it’s available here (among other places):

The song doesn’t strike me as super awesome or anything after a listen or two, but it’s certainly very cool that the band is still releasing things themselves for free on the web.
Phoenix
I’m getting quite into this band Phoenix. In a way I feel like I shouldn’t like it; it’s simple and it does seem like it’s all been done before. But, hey, Pitchfork likes it, so I can too!
Here they are playing their song “1901″ on SNL from their recent album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
(Sorry for [...]
Intuition
There’s a lot of talk about intuition in philosophy these days. Anyway, here’s a song about it by Feist.
“What gives, what helps the intuiton?”—indeed.
Some New Music
It seems there’s been kind of a lull in good new “indie” music lately. But here’s a list of some new music I’ve been into lately (i.e. in the past 6 months or so):
Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavilion
The Appleseed Cast – Sagarmatha
Dan Deacon – Bromst
Deerhoof – Offend Maggie
Deerhunter – Microcastle-Weird Era Continued
Fleet Foxes – [...]
Best Albums of 2008
It’s that time again. Everyone is releasing lists of what they think were the best albums of 2008 (e.g. Pitchfork, RollingStone, I Guess I’m Floating.) Pitchfork had a readers poll and have posted the results. I’m glad everyone out there agrees that Wolf Parade deserved more praise for At Mount Zoomer! I’m starting to [...]
Radiohead in Santa Barbara!
04 – Radiohead – 15 Step
by andybe29
I went to the Radiohead show in SB. It was amazing, to say the least. I have to say, it was the best show I’ve ever been to—mostly because Radiohead is possibly the greatest band ever, but also because the Santa Barbara Bowl is one of the greatest venues [...]
Wolf Parade and Pitchfork
Sometimes Pitchfork and I don’t see eye to eye. But they recently gave the new Wolf Parade album a 7.7 (out of 10).
That’s not a horrible score, but it’s certainly too low, especially since they gave their first LP a 9.2. At Mount Zoomer is at least as good. And they are a [...]
Good New Music
Here is some good new (new to me at least) music I’ve been pretty into lately:
Water Curses (EP) – Animal Collective
Third – Portishead
Consolers of the Lonely – The Raconteurs
The Con – Tegan and Sara
For Emma, Forever Ago – Bon Iver
Vampire Weekend – Vampire Weekend
Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel – [...]
